The problem
Art writing online is either a press release with a byline or a paywall.
Galleries write their own coverage and call it news. The criticism that argues sits behind subscriptions most readers will not buy for one piece. The space between is where a publication can live.
Art Plugged publishes criticism that argues, interviews that ask, and reportage that was there, in two languages, on a system built and run in the same studio that writes it.
Built
3.1
The publication
Criticism, interviews and reportage, published to a house voice. Sentence case, specific claims, no exclamation marks.
3.2
The newsroom
The editorial pipeline behind it: commissioning, editing, SEO fields and publishing, run from one place.
3.3
The French edition
Interviews translated for publication, introductions rewritten rather than translated, so the French reads as written.
In their words
